Floor-to-Ceiling Dry-Stack Stone Fireplace
A Westport homeowner wanted a floor-to-ceiling dry-stack natural stone fireplace that could serve as the focal point of their main living space — something with genuine presence and a level of craft that photographed well and held up to scrutiny in person.
Wilmer and his crew built the fireplace entirely on site — natural stone selected and fit by hand in a dry-stack pattern from hearth to ceiling, with a hand-set granite mantel and an arched keystone surround at the firebox opening. Full stone hearth extension to the floor. No prefab components.
Dry-stack work at this scale requires patience — every stone is fit by eye and hand, adjusted until the joint is tight and the face reads as a unified composition. The finished fireplace is the kind of work that makes people ask who built it.
