Stone Veneer Installation in Connecticut

Natural and manufactured stone veneer for facades, fireplaces, columns, accent walls, and retaining wall facings — installed with the substrate work that makes it last.

About this service

Stone veneer transforms a surface. Installed well, it lasts a lifetime.

Stone veneer brings the character and warmth of natural masonry to surfaces where full-thickness stone isn't structurally practical. Fireplaces, exterior facades, retaining walls, pillars, accent walls — veneer applied with proper technique and the right materials is as durable as it is beautiful.

Legacy Mason installs both natural stone veneer and high-quality manufactured stone products for interior and exterior applications across Fairfield County. We work with the material that's right for the project — not the one with the best margin.

What's included

Stone veneer applications.

Exterior Facades & Foundation

Stone veneer applied to exterior home facades, foundation walls, and porch bases. We prepare the substrate properly, install appropriate moisture barriers, and apply veneer to manufacturer and code specifications for exterior Connecticut applications.

Fireplace Surrounds

Interior and exterior fireplace surrounds in natural and manufactured stone veneer. One of the most impactful single-room transformations available — a well-installed stone fireplace surround changes the character of the entire space.

Accent Walls

Interior accent walls in natural or manufactured stone veneer for living rooms, entryways, basements, and feature walls. We work with the homeowner's material selection and design direction to install clean, finished walls that anchor the room.

Pillar & Column Veneers

Stone veneer applied to entry pillars, porch columns, and gateway posts. Transforms plain concrete block or CMU columns into architectural features that hold their own against the home's character.

Retaining Wall Facing

Natural stone veneer applied to concrete block retaining walls — delivering the aesthetics of natural stone construction with the structural specifications of engineered block systems.

For stone veneer applications on Fairfield County properties we source natural veneer stone through regional Connecticut and New England suppliers — including locally quarried schist and fieldstone veneer that carries the authentic character of New England stone without the extended lead times and higher cost of imported natural stone products.

Built for Connecticut

Natural vs. manufactured stone veneer.

Natural stone veneer is quarried, cut to thickness, and installed in irregular patterns — every installation is unique. It's heavier, requires more skilled installation, and carries a character that manufactured products approach but don't fully replicate.

Manufactured stone veneer uses concrete cast in molds to mimic natural stone profiles. Premium manufactured products are convincing, lighter, and offer more consistent sizing that allows tighter tolerances on complex applications.

We install both and recommend based on the application, the budget, and what the finished space deserves.

The Legacy Mason process

Our stone veneer process.

We start with a substrate assessment — exterior applications need proper moisture barrier and lath; interior applications need a sound, level surface. We address any deficiencies before installation begins.

You receive a detailed, itemized estimate covering prep, materials, installation, and finish work. We bring physical samples on-site before final material selection.

All new stone veneer work is covered by a workmanship warranty appropriate to the application.

Floor-to-Ceiling Dry-Stack Stone Fireplace

A Westport homeowner wanted a floor-to-ceiling dry-stack natural stone fireplace that could serve as the focal point of their main living space — something with genuine presence and a level of craft that photographed well and held up to scrutiny in person.

Wilmer and his crew built the fireplace entirely on site — natural stone selected and fit by hand in a dry-stack pattern from hearth to ceiling, with a hand-set granite mantel and an arched keystone surround at the firebox opening. Full stone hearth extension to the floor. No prefab components.

Dry-stack work at this scale requires patience — every stone is fit by eye and hand, adjusted until the joint is tight and the face reads as a unified composition. The finished fireplace is the kind of work that makes people ask who built it.
