Stone & Paver Patio Installation in Connecticut

Custom-designed bluestone, flagstone, and premium paver patios — engineered base, proper drainage, built to last through Connecticut winters.

About this service

Your outdoor space should work as hard as the rest of your property.

A patio isn't a luxury add-on. It's an extension of how you live — where you eat, entertain, unwind, and spend time with people you care about. Legacy Mason builds custom stone and paver patios that are designed around your specific yard, your home's architecture, and the way you actually use the space.

Wilmer has installed patios across Fairfield County for homeowners who wanted something that looked intentional, held up through Connecticut winters, and added genuine value to their property. That's the standard we bring to every project.

What's included

Patio materials we work with.

Bluestone

Connecticut's most popular premium patio material — and for good reason. Bluestone is dense, durable, and carries a clean, timeless appearance that suits everything from traditional New England homes to contemporary builds. It handles freeze-thaw cycles well and ages beautifully. Average installed cost: $20–35 per square foot depending on cut and thickness.

Flagstone

Natural irregular flagstone creates an organic, handcrafted look that no manufactured product can replicate. We work with a range of flagstone types — Pennsylvania bluestone, Connecticut fieldstone, Goshen stone — and fit each piece by hand for a result that looks like it grew from the ground. Average installed cost: $18–30 per square foot.

Concrete Pavers

Concrete pavers offer the widest range of shapes, colors, and patterns at a more accessible price point. We work with premium paver lines from Nicolock, Unilock, and Techo-Bloc — manufacturers whose products are engineered for New England's climate. Average installed cost: $12–22 per square foot.

Porcelain Pavers

A growing choice for contemporary Fairfield County properties. Porcelain pavers are frost-resistant, virtually maintenance-free, and available in formats that mimic natural stone with extreme precision. Higher material cost, lower long-term maintenance. Average installed cost: $25–40 per square foot.

Brick

Traditional brick patios suit period homes and classic New England architecture. Dense, durable, and rich in character — brick develops a patina over time that manufactured materials can't imitate. We source reclaimed and new brick depending on the project's needs.

We source patio materials from regional suppliers across Connecticut and Southern New England. Goshen stone — a metamorphic schist quarried in Western Massachusetts — is one of the most locally available premium patio options in Fairfield County and one we specify regularly for properties where a naturalistic New England character is the goal. Connecticut fieldstone sourced locally keeps material costs competitive and lead times short.

Built for Connecticut

What makes a patio built to last in Connecticut.

Connecticut's climate is one of the most demanding in the Northeast for outdoor masonry. Freeze-thaw cycles put constant stress on patio surfaces and their base. A patio that fails in year three didn't fail because of the stone — it failed because of what was underneath it.

Legacy Mason excavates to proper depth, installs a compacted gravel base, accounts for drainage, and uses appropriate jointing materials for the specific stone or paver selected. That foundation work is what separates a patio that lasts 30 years from one that shifts and cracks by year five.

The Legacy Mason process

Our patio installation process.

We start with a site visit to assess grade, drainage, sun exposure, and how the space connects to your home. From there we discuss materials, layout, and any integrated features — seating walls, lighting, fire features, outdoor kitchen connections.

You get a detailed, itemized estimate before any work begins. We handle permit requirements where applicable, schedule materials, and manage the installation from excavation to final cleanup.

Every new patio installation is covered by a 2–5 year warranty depending on scope and materials.

Large-Format Paver Patio with Custom Compass Rose Medallion

The brief was to transform a sloped, underused backyard on a wooded Connecticut property into a proper outdoor living space. The result was one of the most complete projects Legacy Mason has delivered.

The lower level is anchored by a large-format paver patio in warm gray running bond — over 800 square feet of precisely laid surface centered on a custom bluestone compass rose medallion. The compass detail is cut and engraved into a circular bluestone centerpiece set flush into the paver field. It took longer to build than anything else on the project. It was worth every hour.

Flanking the upper elevation, rough-faced fieldstone retaining walls hold the grade and define the boundary between levels. Matching stone columns — topped with bluestone caps and exterior lanterns — frame a multi-rise stone staircase connecting the two levels. Every element was built from the same material palette so the whole composition reads as one unified design.
