About Legacy Mason
Wilton's character lives in its stonework. We respect it.
Wilton's defining feature isn't its houses — it's the old stone walls, the original chimneys, the masonry detail you can't replicate without knowing what you're doing. When we work in Wilton, we match what's already there before we add anything new.
Wilmer learned restoration from his father — the right mortar, the right stone, the right joint. Legacy Mason brings that discipline to every Wilton project, whether we're rebuilding a 200-year-old chimney or designing a new outdoor room from scratch.

What we build in Wilton.

Stone & Paver Patios
Patios designed to feel native to Wilton's wooded, rural character. Natural stone and bluestone laid on properly engineered bases — no shortcuts, no settling, no regrets.

Retaining Walls
Wilton's ledge, slopes, and wooded grade changes demand walls built for the actual site, not a template. We engineer them to hold and finish them to look like they belong.

Outdoor Kitchens & Fire Features
Custom outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, and fire pits built for Wilton homeowners who use their outdoor space year-round. Materials and finishes chosen to age gracefully alongside the home.

Chimney Repair & Repointing
Historic Wilton chimneys need lime-based mortars and a restoration mindset, not a quick patch. We repoint, rebuild, and waterproof using the right materials for the original construction.

Masonry Repairs & Restoration
Restoration is what we love. Bring us the tough Wilton stone walls, the failing mortar, the original details that need to be brought back — that's the work that built our reputation.

Local Knowledge
Antique walls, shallow ledge, and a valley that heaves.
Wilton is full of dry-laid antique fieldstone walls, and most of what has failed on them is frost heave rather than age. Along the Norwalk River valley the soil holds water and lifts every winter, rolling stone off the top course and bowing the face. Rebuilding correctly means resetting on a free-draining base and re-laying the stone by hand with proper batter and through-stones — not gluing the face back with mortar.
Shallow ledge is the other constant. Where rock sits within a foot or two of grade there is no room for a conventional frost footing, so we pin to ledge and design the assembly to drain instead of digging deeper into rock and hoping.
The period houses in Cannondale, Georgetown and along Belden Hill were laid in soft lime mortar. Repointing them with modern Portland-cement mortar traps moisture and spalls the stone and brick face. We match mortar type, color and joint profile to the original work.
