Outdoor Kitchens & Fire Features in Connecticut

Custom outdoor kitchens, stone fireplaces, and fire pit installations — built from scratch around your appliances, your property, and how you live outside.

About this service

The backyard you've been planning deserves to be built right.

An outdoor kitchen or fire feature is the kind of project that changes how you use your property. Done well, it extends your season, improves how you entertain, and adds lasting value to your home. Done poorly, it cracks, shifts, and becomes an expensive problem inside of five years.

Legacy Mason builds outdoor kitchens and fire features that are designed for the way Fairfield County homeowners actually live — and built to handle everything a Connecticut winter can throw at them.

What's included

What we build.

Custom Kitchen Islands & Structures

We build outdoor kitchen structures in stone, brick, and concrete block — designed from scratch around your appliances, your layout, and your property. No kit builds, no templates. Custom countertop materials include granite, bluestone, and porcelain.

Grill Enclosures & Built-In Appliances

We frame and finish grill enclosures, side burner stations, refrigerator cutouts, and sink installations. We work with your choice of appliance brands and build the surrounding masonry structure to fit precisely.

Outdoor Bar & Prep Stations

Full bar and prep station builds in stone and masonry — designed for daily use and serious entertaining. Integrated drainage, durable countertop surfaces, and proper sealing for Connecticut weather exposure.

Custom Fire Pits

Wood-burning and gas fire pit installations built in natural stone, brick, and concrete. Wood-burning fire pits typically start at $1,500–$2,500 installed. Gas fire pits with plumbing and insert run $2,500–$4,000 depending on size and materials. We handle gas permit applications in all Fairfield County towns.

Outdoor Fireplaces

Stone and brick outdoor fireplaces are the centerpiece of a well-built outdoor living space. We build full masonry fireplaces — not prefab inserts with a stone face — designed to function properly, draft correctly, and look like they were always part of the property.

Fire Pit Seating Walls

Integrated stone seating walls built around fire pits define the space, extend seating capacity, and anchor the feature to the surrounding landscape. We design fire pit and seating wall combinations as a single unified installation.

For outdoor kitchen and fire feature construction in Fairfield County we specify frost-rated masonry materials appropriate for Connecticut's climate throughout — no interior-grade products on exterior applications. Natural stone sourced regionally from Connecticut and Southern New England suppliers keeps material character consistent with the Fairfield County landscape and avoids the extended lead times of imported stone.

Built for Connecticut

Built for Connecticut's climate.

Outdoor kitchens and fire features in Connecticut face sustained exposure to freeze-thaw cycles, moisture, and temperature extremes. The masonry structures we build use frost-rated materials, proper drainage slopes, and weather-appropriate mortars and sealants designed for exterior New England applications.

Every gas installation is permitted through the local building department and inspected before use. Gas and electrical work is performed by licensed subcontractors — Legacy Mason coordinates the trades and builds the masonry structure.

The Legacy Mason process

Our outdoor living build process.

We start with a site visit to look at how the space will connect to the rest of your property — sightlines from the house, sun exposure, prevailing wind, and proximity to existing utilities.

From there we work through layout, appliance selection, materials, and integration with patios or fire features. You get a detailed, itemized estimate covering masonry, coordination with gas and electrical subs, permits, and finish work.

Every new outdoor kitchen and fire feature build is covered by a 2–5 year warranty.

Wilton, CT

Covered Porch Stone Fireplace

A Wilton homeowner wanted a covered porch fireplace that could anchor year-round outdoor entertaining — something that felt permanent, substantial, and built to the scale of the property.

The result was a full hand-fit fieldstone fireplace with an arched firebox opening and a thick bluestone hearth — built entirely on site by Wilmer and his crew. The fieldstone was hand-selected and fit for tight consistent joints throughout. The arch was built from scratch, not from a prefab form.

The fireplace reads as a natural extension of the home's character — warm stone tones, clean lines, and a hearth scaled for a full outdoor seating arrangement. It gets used from early spring through late fall. That's the point.
